Bespoke cakes are my passion and I love to labour over my designs to make sure my couples receive the cake of their dreams. As every cake I create is unique the pricing is quite varied. 

The cost of a bespoke wedding cake is comprised of the portions required plus the complexity of the design. I offer two styles of wedding cake sizes – modern skinny tierd cakes which offer height with fewer portions, and the classic standard tiered cakes which have slightly wider proportions.

Modern Skinny Cakes

The modern skinny cake is an elegant way to add height to your wedding cake without adding too many portions. Their slender proportions and sleek style means that vertical and cascading designs work really well on these style cakes.

Classic Standard Cakes

Never out of style, the classic tiered cake is beautifully proportioned and offers a decent amount of portions for the size. The proportions of these cakes are timeless so any design suits their shape, though clusters of sugarflowers do look so lovely nestled on the shelves of the tiers.

Pricing Guide

As all of the cakes I create are bespoke and made to the desires of each of my couples, my pricing is quite varied. These are a starting point to which a more complex design is added. Intricate sugar work, sugar flowers and detailed designs will add further to the final cost.

Couples on average spend between £650-£950 on a 3 tier wedding cake serving 70-95 portions.

However many portions you require, I can make a cake to suit your needs. Below you’ll find the minimum number of portions for each style and size as well as the maximum portions that can be acheived in each.

faux tiers

Have your heart set on a tall, tiered cake but don’t need the portions? Faux tiers can be incorporated into the design to add height without adding portions.

HOW MUCH CAKE DO I NEED?

These days, most catered menus include a dessert course for your guests. If you’re serving the cake as part of an evening buffet and not as the dessert then you can account for 60-70% portions for your guests. Not everyone will partake in the buffet. This number can be lower if you’re including other sweet items along with the cake. If you’re serving the cake as dessert though, then I do recommend a slice for each guest.

DELIVERY COSTS

I deliver and set-up all of my wedding cakes, liaising with the venue and wedding co-ordinator to ensure a seamless delivery and set-up. Delivery is based on the distance to the venue from my studio in Leith. Please get in touch with your venue for a delivery quote. My typical delivery radius is 70 miles from Edinburgh City Centre but I do love a long drive and can deliver my wedding cakes throughout Scotland. However, I only take a few cakes per week so please get into touch to be sure I have your date available.

Sugar flowers

It is no surprise I’m sure that I love making sugar flowers! So many of my cakes are adorned with my hand-crafted sugar florals and foliage. Sugar flowers are a labour of love. Each petal and leaf is shaped, formed, painted and dusted by hand therefore they do increase the cost of wedding cake. This depends on the specific flower arrangement and the amount of coverage on the cake. If you would love sugar flowers but are mindful of your budget I recommend using the florals as a single focal point rather than covering the cake in flowers.

 

Sugar flowers are unique in that you can keep them long after your wedding day is over. As long as they’re kept away from humidity they’ll keep for years to come! Check out The Sugar Garden for more info on my sugar florals and my process.
